Master Bedroom Morning Bar
For St. Louis interior designer Kim Taylor West of K Taylor Design Group, the Morning Bar is an idyllic concept that she loves to incorporate into a master bedroom suite. She has reimagined the traditional sitting area, putting life's little luxuries within reach, and behind closed doors.
Away from the chaos—be it the kitchen or kids—it serves as a sanctuary. It's a place to linger on long mornings or retreat to early in the evening. A place to read, relax and unwind and one where Kim always employs a soft, serene palette.
In the Morning Bar seen here, Kim worked with Beck/Allen Cabinetry to create a custom unit that gives the appearance of a built-in, but is not actually attached, allowing the homeowners to take it with them should they move. She likens the space to a luxury hotel suite.
By design, this is a retreat where one can unplug. You won't find a television hanging overhead; though Kim mindfully selected chairs that swivel should her clients need to turn and face the master bedroom TV. Cabinets house shelves for books and conceal two Kitchen Aid refrigerator drawers from AUTCOhome. One might like to keep cold drinks or coffee creamer nearby, or in Kim's perfect world, a stash of gourmet chocolates that she prefers to keep all to herself. A Danby Marble countertop adds an elegant touch to the bar, its honed finish an ideal match to the softness of the room's colors and textures.
